THE HIDDEN EXHAUSTION CODEX
For the kind of tired that sleep doesn’t always fix.
Sometimes exhaustion doesn’t look like falling apart.
Sometimes it looks like answering the messages. Going to work. Taking care of everyone. Getting through the day. Smiling when you need to smile.
And quietly wondering why everything feels so much harder than it used to.
The Hidden Exhaustion Codex is a gentle companion for the person who has been carrying too much for too long — especially when nobody else can quite see it.
This is not another book asking you to become more productive, organise yourself better or push through.
It is somewhere to put the weight down.
WHEN YOU’RE FUNCTIONING — BUT YOU’RE TIRED OF FUNCTIONING
Hidden exhaustion can be difficult to explain because, from the outside, life may still look relatively normal.
You may still be getting things done.
But underneath that functioning there can be a quieter depletion:
- feeling emotionally and mentally drained
- needing more recovery after ordinary demands
- becoming overwhelmed more easily
- feeling guilty when you rest
- constantly thinking about what still needs to be done
- giving to other people when you have very little left for yourself
- wondering why you don’t feel restored even after slowing down
Sometimes the hardest part is feeling as though you should be coping better because technically, you are coping.
The Codex creates space for another possibility:
Perhaps you do not need to become better at carrying everything. Perhaps some of it was never yours to keep carrying.
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER PRODUCTIVITY BOOK
You will not find another complicated routine to maintain.
There is no perfect morning ritual to complete and no demand that you transform yourself before you are allowed to rest.
Instead, the Codex offers reflections and gentle words to return to when your internal resources feel low.
Read a few pages.
Put it down.
Come back tomorrow.
Open it again three weeks later when you realise you have been carrying too much.
There is no correct way to use it.
Rest does not have to become another task you perform well.
WHAT IS A CODEX?
In the Companion Codex Series, a Codex is a collection of wise words, reflections and gentle guidance designed to be returned to slowly.
But it is also something symbolic:
a safe space for restoration and renewal.
Somewhere to pause.
Somewhere to breathe.
Somewhere to slow down long enough to hear yourself again.
You do not have to read it perfectly or finish it quickly.
Open it when you need it. Read what speaks to you. Return when you are ready.
THE HIDDEN EXHAUSTION CODEX MAY BE FOR YOU IF…
- You appear capable on the outside but feel depleted underneath.
- You find it difficult to truly switch off.
- Rest sometimes comes with guilt.
- You are tired of being told simply to “take a break.”
- You have spent a long time being the person who copes.
- Your mind continues working even when your body wants to stop.
- You want something gentle rather than another self-improvement programme.
- You need permission to exist without constantly producing, fixing or carrying.

A NOTE FROM OYA
“Hidden exhaustion is not always obvious. Sometimes you can continue doing everything expected of you while quietly becoming more and more depleted underneath it all.
I wanted this Codex to feel like somewhere you could put things down.
Not somewhere asking you to fix yourself. Not somewhere giving you another list of things to accomplish.
Just somewhere that reminds you that you are allowed to stop carrying everything for a while.”
— Oya Omore
